Back from a retreat ...

Been quite a while since Ive last blogged .... so here comes the whole bulk load!

I had taken a trip sometime end of Jan for 12 days and it was really the best things I could do for myself. Wished it could have been longer but in the given circumstances this was worth every minute...

The key reason was to treat a tummy problem I had but the break was quite a treat in itself.

During my treatment I was not allowed access to Internet or any other communication except a few phone calls on my mobile once I was back in my room. Whew! Thank god for that or I might have totally lost myself.

My day started at 5am with a wake up call over the room radio. I of course had the option to ignore it or wake up and start getting dressed.

Since over the years I had mastered the art of getting ready within minutes I chose to continue sleeping. The alarm would go off again at 5.50 to indicate the time for 'Yogic-Kriyas'.

This was where the weird stuff started....

To work on my tummy issues the kriyas for me involved an eye wash (generic to every possible problem), Gargling with hot water (again generic) AND drinking 3-4 glasses of salted water AND THEN VOMITING IT OUT!!!

It was awful!! I failed the first day...I failed the second day...and by the third day they started getting worried ... Anyhow they just gave up on me I wasn't troubled by the 3-4 glasses of salty water again.

BUT...I still had to see other people going through ghastly things themselves. My mom for instance had to pour water through one nostril and pass it out through the other (for her sinusitis)

Another woman had to stuff a one metre long cloth down her throat and then pull it out (treatment for chest congestion) The same poor lady had to also pass a string through her nose and out through her mouth and rub it to and fro (again for congestion)....there were a lot more things done in there that I would rather choose to omit from blogging

If you think this was more of a training camp for the circus....my thoughts exactly!

This was then followed by laughter therapy... OK. Now if you think its all laughs then you are so wrong! You get together in a group and start making weird sounds likes 'HO HO HA HA HA' and then this gets worse when you have to start making faces at each other (I'm sure that's considered rude in some places...) Well on the whole....did it one day and skipped the rest.

After this we went for our breakfast which was fresh juices. Now let me point out here the place has its own organic farms so EVERYTHING is soooo healthy.

After this came the Yoga class. I thought it was pretty good...The only hitch was I started fantasizing of Strawberry Cheese Cake in the middle of a session...and i cant have cheesecake coz it would be too heavy for my tummy :(

Anyways yoga was then followed by a nice treatment of mudpacks....Mmmmm.... :)

Then you had other treatments for your problems...my case tummy....I would like to skip some treatments I underwent (Not for the faint hearted...but great in terms of results)

Going back to the fun bit...I had other spa treatments such as oil massages, Jacuzzis, underwater massages, vibro massages, steam bath, sauna bath and the works....Yummmmmmm

In between he had a host of fresh juices, fruits and veggies which totally de-toxed you. Even after the second day I was already feeling so much more relaxed.

At noon I would hit the gym for an hour and again it was fun 'showing off' my stamina to the trainers there (I have been training with a personal trainer for a awhile :P)

This would be followed with either a siesta or swim or sometimes both. In the evening I would go for some more 'treatments' and then relax with a face pack made of fresh mud from the sea and aloevera...Yeah!

In the evening things would be quite chill....we hung out in our groups...went for walks around the place, did 'make-up and hair' sessions for each other, cracked jokes, gossiped and the works....

By late evening I would be nicely tucked in bed watching KBC (I never watched as much TV in my entire life as when I was there...) By around 10.45 the TV would go off and I would read for a bit before floating into slumber land.

WOW! I really did all that and yes I did have a GRAND time. This was probably the first time I had ever spend remotely connected with the rest of the world....and for a change I enjoyed thinking only of myself...

And about my tummy problems...well...things are better but unfortunately my tummy was very weak for a abit. I still cant take in some things but atleast my 'original' problem has improved...

Well! I don't really think this is off the hook yet....Hmmm.....maybe I can do this sometime again...
